Luella and Rose
A brand identity design project.
background
Motherhood and wellness blog Luella & Rose wanted a new brand identity - something which would help attract the ideal reader and also grow as Iris, the blog founder, expands the blog resources and offerings.
The brief
The brief was to create a brand identity which was strong yet feminine as well as nurturing and embedded with a sense of sisterhood. The name itself - Luella & Rose - holds family ties and although gives a natural visual reference to the rose flower, Iris was conscious of not making the connection too obvious as well as being mindful to tribute all three of her children. Iris advocates the idea of being ‘imperfectly perfect’ and therefore didn’t want anything too formal or out of reach. The designs needed to be approachable and friendly as well as inspiring a positive outlook. In addition to the brand design identity suite, Iris also wanted branded social media graphics to post on her Instagram feed as well as stories.
The outcome
The design concept for Luella and Rose’s brand identity was based on the idea of nature and nurture - both the blooming of the mind but also motherhood and self development/growth.
Bespoke floral motifs were hand drawn and rendered in Illustrator to create a variety of brand icons and graphic elements.
The ampersand was customised to create a powerful primary logo and also gives a nod to Iris’s three beautiful children (without being too specific) - her motivation for setting up a blog focusing on motherhood and wellbeing.
THE FINAL RESULTS
Below are how all of the brand elements come together to create a bespoke and memorable brand identity for Luella and Rose. These designs were then used to create bespoke social media and blog post templates.
